Admissions/Student Affairs coordinator 

Required skills:
 
The main responsibility of this position is to ensure smooth coordination and communication lines between the Admissions and the Student Affairs Departments. The incumbent will normally work as a liaison officer between the two departments but will work in either of them during pressure times. 

Highlights of the position includes:- 

Admissions 

• Answering student inquiries through phone, e-mail, web and walk-ins. 
• Planning and conducting student orientations, meetings and workshops. 
• Registering students with offer letters into UG and PG programs. 
• Transcribing potential student information into the admission system. 
• Coordinating with HR Department on student legal status, visas, medical insurance and transportation.

Student Affairs 

• Providing advice and counselling students enrolled in UG or PG programs on study plans according to course selected by student 
• Maintaining progress reports for each student to ensure that grievances and issues are promptly and appropriately addressed i.e. academic or personal 
• Keeping track of students on scholarships to ensure they are still eligible for their scholarship status 
• Organizing monthly events for students 
• Maintaining and regularly updating student files and records 
• Coordinating student events, activities and graduations 
• Special focus on relationships with International Students to ensure all needs are met

Academic Support 

• Invigilating exams when required 
• Localizing and updating course materials as and when required – both physical as well as website updates 
• Coordination with Academic Services for time tabling of UG and PG classes

Qualifications & Skills 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, Counselling, Sales, Marketing or any related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in admissions/student affair coordination/ telemarketing in the UAE.
• Dynamic, creative and approachable
• Excellent time management and planning skills
• Excellent communication, reporting & presentation skills
• Organized and efficient.

Student Life Officer 

Specific Duties include:
 
Sports Activities 

• Manage and coordinate the university’s basketball, football, cricket, tennis, volleyball and other sporting teams.
• Provide coaching and facilitate participation in different sports events within Dubai.

Teaching & Learning Centre 

• Conduct workshops and individual consultation sessions on academic skills including reading, essay and report writing, note taking, critical thinking, oral presentations and referencing, prioritizing students for whom English is a second or foreign language.
• Work with staff in connection with teaching and learning issues & plagiarism.
• Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Centre on the Murdoch campus in Perth.

Student Events & Community Involvement 

• Coordinate the Pre Orientation and Orientation Events in coordination with Admissions, Student Affairs and Academic Affairs
• Coordinate the graduation events in cooperation with Marketing, Business Development and Academic Affairs (in addition to IT, HR & Finance).
• Assisting in open days, exhibitions and educational fairs, meetings and workshops.
• Ensure student participation in all DIAC/KV events as well as other inter-university activities.
• Coordinate with Business development to promote student social responsibility by facilitating and coordinating student participation in community events, charitable activities and volunteer work for the public.

Student Blogs and products 

• Supervise the Student Internal Newsletter.
• Monitor and supervise MUISCD’s blogs, facebook groups and other social marketing platforms.

Student Career Centre 

• Assist graduating students in job placements in coordination with the HR & Business Development departments.

Qualifications and skills: 

• A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Physical Education, or any other relevant disciplines.
• At least 2-4 years’ experience in a school or a university as a student life officer, coach, or events coordinator.
• A high level of written and oral communication skills in English
• High level of computer literacy in Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Demonstrated high-quality experience in counselling, guiding and mentoring students.
• Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and positive relations with students
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relations with business partners for mutual benefit
• Self-motivated, social, extrovert and outgoing.
• Creative, innovative and flexible
• Ability to identify sports activities, social events community involvement opportunities that enrich the university life of students.

Software Developer (Temporary Assignment/Project) 

Required skills:
 
• Knowledge of intranet/internet portal design & hands on experience in SharePoint & Web development
• Knowledge of LDAP/Active Directory authentication and group security, experience in active directory    integration with SharePoint
• Experience in developing Windows SharePoint Services, .NET Framework, MS SQL Server, Visual Studio 2008/2010, ASP.Net, VB.NET, XML, HTML, JavaScript
• Understanding of workflows systems and capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010,Windows SharePoint Services, SharePoint Designer 2007/201
• Graphic Designing & branding
• Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010 customisation & implementation
• Experienced in SharePoint designer, Windows SharePoint Services , Visual studio and InfoPath
• Previous experience in internet/intranet development
• SQL server administration 

Other details:

• Only residents of the UAE (Dubai) are considered.
• This is a project-based temporary employment/freelance assignment.


Lecturer - Accounting (Part-time)

Specific duties include:

• Assist in the development and teaching in the Murdoch University MBA program.
• Conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations and workshops.
• Unit coordination
• Mark and assess student assignments
• Consultation with students in connection with teaching and learning issues
• Undertake administrative functions as required under the direction of the Academic Director.

Qualifications and skills:

• A postgraduate (Master or PhD) or professional qualifications in Accounting.
• At least 2-4 years teaching experience in a reputed university.
• A high level of written and oral English communication skills and computer literacy
• Demonstrated high-quality teaching and evidence of continuing personal and professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students in a variety of learning contexts
• Experience of working with diverse range of students
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Applicants must possess a valid UAE residency

Position details:

• Part time contract for one semester (1st May - 18th august 2011).
• Classes are once/twice a week (TBA).
• Timings from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm.


Lecturer - Education (Part-time)

Specific duties include:

  • Responsibility to assist in the development and teaching in the Master of Education program
  • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student excursions or other teaching/learning activities
  • Initiate and develop subject material
  • Unit coordination
  • Mark and assess student assignments
  • Consultation with students
  • Undertake administrative functions as required under the direction of the Academic Director
  • Attend all departmental and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a number of committees
  • Work with staff in connection with teaching and learning issues
  • Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Centre on the Murdoch Campus

Qualifications and skills:

  • PhD or a Master degree in Education
  • At least 5 years teaching experience in a reputed university preferably at the postgraduate level
  • High level of English proficiency
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills and computer literacy
  • Demonstrated high-quality experience in teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students in a variety of learning contexts
  • Experience of working with mature learning groups (teachers)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Flexible timings

Position details:

  • Part time for one semester.
  • Classes are once/twice a week in the evening (5pm - 9pm).
